Pacific Sandalwood Essential Oil
The forest tree Santalum austrocaledonicum, Sandalwood Pacific is endemic to the archipelagos of New Caledonia and Vanuatu, and is threatened by the reduction of the populations due to exploitation. Pacific or New Caledonian Sandalwood is commercially used for oil production. The oils are produced mostly by steam distillation of the heart wood or roots or by a combination of solvent extraction and rectification.
